Innoventum is developing Tiimalas as a SaaS service for the everyday life of expert organizations that do project work. The goal is to build a practical solution where projects, tasks, working time, hour records, customer information and invoicing readiness work in the same entity.
Tiimalas' operating model is based on the expert work tracking solution that has been used since 2010, the core of which has been that recording and allocating working time and work done is as easy as possible. Now, this operating model, tested in long-term use, is being developed into a modern SaaS service suitable for several customer organizations.
In many project-based SMEs, work is divided into several different systems. Tasks are managed in one place, working time in another, billable hours in a third, and the overall picture of the customer is finally compiled manually. In the development of Tiimalas, this fragmentation is resolved by combining daily project work and business-essential hour and invoicing information in the same user environment.
What is being developed in the project
The Hourglass development project will strengthen the following entities in particular:
- project, task and task hierarchies management
- working time tracking and project-specific time entries as parallel but coordinated data flows
- daily work dashboard, timers and working time controls
- customer and invoicing readiness views
- managed data imports and AI-assisted time entry drafting processes
- integration paths to, for example, planning, calendar and financial management systems
- SaaS model, where multiple customer organizations can be served from the same productized platform
Who is Hourglass being developed for
Hourglass is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized expert and service companies where customer work is project, task or hourly-based. Typical users include consulting and design offices, software and digital service companies, and other organizations where work progress, working hours, and invoicing readiness should be better visible in the same entity.
Hourglass is positioned between lightweight time recording tools and heavy ERP or PSA systems. The goal is to provide a sufficiently comprehensive view for project management, but to keep everyday use light.
Development phase
The Hourglass/Tiimalasi development project is ongoing from June 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027. The project aims to productize Hourglass into a marketable software product, create capabilities for piloting, and prepare the first implementations by customer organizations.
The development is progressing in stages towards pilot readiness in early 2027. At this stage, we are looking for organizations for whom combining projects, working time, hour records and invoicing readiness would be a current development target.

Hourglass: the development of a software product combining project work, working time and invoicing readiness is an ongoing product development project by Innoventum Oy. The project will be implemented from 1.6.2026 to 31.1.2027 with the support of the Economic Development Centre for Eastern Finland's business development grant.
